Classic Italian Desserts: Biscotti al Cioccolato con Crema di Mascarpone al Caffe' e Semifreddo ai Frutti di Bosco

As with most restaurant dessert menus in Italy, this classic Italian desserts menu features the traditional Italian "Tiramisu", a variety of ice-creams (it is Italy!), sorbets and fresh fruit, plus a few home-cooked creamy and sweet puddings.

 

It is from one of my favourite restaurants in the seaside resort of Follonica: "La Lanternina 2 Palmieri Ristorante and Pizzeria".

The home-made Italian Desserts

 

SORBETTO AL LIMONE (Liquido)
Lemon sorbet served in liquid form with a straw. You may be offered a dash of liquer, such as Grappa, to mix in!

TIRAMISU’
A sponge (or sponge biscuits - "savoiardi") soaked/dipped in expresso coffee and layered with a whipped mixture of egg yolks, mascarpone, and sugar, and topped with cocoa.

PANNA COTTA
(Con Cioccolato o Frutti Di Bosco)
A creamy set dessert made from cream, milk and sugar: literally, a "cooked cream". Served with either a chocolate or fruits of the forest sauce.

CREME CARAMEL
Cream Caramel

CREMA ALLA CATALANA (FLAMBE’)
A creamy custard topped with sugar and a dash of liqueur which is set alight.

CREMA DI MASCARPONE CON PASTA SFOGLIA E FRUTTI DI BOSCO
Marscapone cheese with puff pastry and fruits of the forest.

MISTO FANTASIA
In English this translates as a "fantasy mix", but I have never ordered it to see. I suspect it is ice-cream.

SOUFFLE AL CIOCCOLATO
(tempo preparazione 15 minuti)
Chocolate souffle
(allow 15 minutes preparation time)

ANANAS FRESCO
Fresh pineapple

GELATI
Ice-creams

GELATO AL COCCO
Coconut ice-cream

GELATO AL LIMONE (Limone ripieno)
Lemon ice-cream (in a lemon skin)

MATTONELLA ALLA NUTELLA CON CIOCCOLATA CALDA
A Nutella custard ice-cream with hot chocolate

TARTUFO BIANCO
A white chocolate ice-cream
