Some of the best Tuscany surf is without a doubt to be had in la Maremma. Not only because conditions for tremendous surfing can be found in many different places along Maremma's coastline, but also because it is one of the most beautiful natural environments in the whole of Italy.
Whether you are a beginner or novice looking for lessons, or an experienced surfer seeking high jumps and fast runs in more testing conditions, there are plenty of fabulous locations for surfing, kitesurfing and windsurfing throughout the year to be found in Maremma.
The stunning surfing during "il tramonto" (the sunset) photograph above is by kind permission of Francesco and was taken at Castiglioncello near Livorno.

A shallow water location where you can surf, kitesurf and windsurf the "Il Dado waves" with Etruscan tombs in view along the shore. When you want to know where the best places are for something you are interested in you can't do better than ask a local. But even better than that is to ask a local who also has a passion for that subject: and so I did! One of my neighbours has surfing in his blood and I rarely see him leave or return home without his surfing kit and trusty companion, his dog. So I asked Simone if he would be willing to share with me his favourite surfing locations in Maremma and he generously agreed to do so.
What I didn't expect was that he would even prepare a map of his top spots to share with you: read the best Maremma surf to find out more...
